Bethany Hamilton relies on her family a lot for support. Her family incudles her Mom, Cheri and her dad, Tom. Bethany's parents have been surfing since they were little. She also has two older brothers Noah, a stand up surfer------just like Bethany, her mom, and dad. He is pretty skinny, and very quick on the waves. He's also into still photography and shoots most of the great pictures of Bethany for her support website. Noah is also very determined and focused when he gets into something he goes all the way. Bethany says he is her greatest protecter. Bethany's other brother, Timmy enjoys being the odd guy out, and the class clown. As Noah got into surfing, Timmy decided to be a body boarder, a hunk of soft foam just over a yard long that is used like a surfboard, excpet you don't stand up on it. Body boards don't have fins on the bottom; they have hard edges that are used to control turns. Body boarders wear swim fins to help them catch waves with their smaller boards. Timmy always makes Bethany laugh and he has this natural talent for knowing exactly what to do or say, thats one thing that will put a smile on your face no matter how grave or serious the situation. He will do anything for a laugh. Besides being a clown, Timmy does all the editing to the videos of Bethany surfing. The Hamilton family go to church and are strong believers. They have a lot of hope and want Bethany to fufill her dreams!
 
Bethany Hamilton has a lot of friends through surfing and school. One of her best friends is Alana Blanchard. They have been best friends since they were younger and always love to surf together. Alana was there the day of Bethany's attack, and she wouldn't know what to do without Alana. Even though now-a-day they can't surf together all the time because of traveling, the girls still make time for eachother. Some of Bethany's other friends are Coco Ho, Carrissa Moore, and many more!
Bethany and Alana love the outdoors and used to play games with neighborhood friends such as ding dong ditch, kick the can, and much more. Alana and Bethany skateboard together and they even jump on Alana's trampoline with plastic bags on their feet and cover the tramp with water and soap! These girls know how to have a good time!
